Transform Your Space: The Essential Role of Lamps in Interior Design

That moment has arrived: the builders are gone, the joinery has been fitted, the final touch-ups on the wall paint have just been finalised, and finally, you start unwrapping all the exciting pieces of furniture that you have been sourcing for months. You have unrolled that amazing rug that was so hard to find.

It’s time to switch on all the lights that were perfectly curated over time with your designer, but then you realise that something is missing. You don’t want the main lights on all the time. Although they are unique and beautiful to look at, they have their own time to be used, and now you just need to sit, relax, enjoy the smell of new furniture and fresh paint, and think about how all of that work and time was worth it. That’s when you realise that those charming, unique, full-of-taste-and-character lamps are still to be unboxed. Yes, I’m talking about Lamps.

Contrary to what some might think, they are one of the first pieces I choose for a project. They can be a good starting point when we run out of ideas. I will talk about the light effect and ambience they bring to a room, but there is much more than that.

These overlooked pieces carry an immense opportunity to be bold, minimal, extravagant, simple—whatever they want to be. There is an infinite array of possibilities, sizes, colours, textures, shapes, and uses for them. They are so versatile, and I would dare to say that they can even save the dullest room from its decay if used properly.

Always on the best side tables, in that dead corner that you decided to make the best use of with an armchair, by the sofas, on a bar cart, on the hallway tables, and even in the kitchen, lamps are just the saviour. And, for me personally, they always pair well with a pile of books.
